There has been no report of any terrorist attack recorded across the 25 local government areas of Niger State, North-Central Nigeria, during the ongoing celebration of Eid-el-Kabir by Muslim faithful. This is as the two-unit prayer in Minna, the state capital was led by Habibu Mai-Basira.
Meanwhile, former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, has appealed to Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of politics without bitterness that will provide an enabling process of electing credible leaders of their choice.
Abubakar made this known in his Sallah message to Nigerians after performing the two raka’ats prayer for Eid-el-Kabir at the Eid prayer ground in Minna.
General Abubakar, while noting the tense atmosphere created by politicians going into the 2027 general elections, emphasised that peace is the prerequisite for any meaningful development, and implored Nigerians, irrespective of ethnic and religious affiliation, to continue to pray for peace in the country to achieve greater heights.
He therefore prayed to God to bring peace, stability, and prosperity to Nigeria towards overcoming the numerous challenges bedevilling the country.
Similarly, Niger state Governor, Umar Bago has called on Muslims and Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayers for the peace, unity and development of the country.
Bago, who also expressed optimism about a brighter future for Nigeria, however, stressed the importance of the Eid prayers, describing them as a platform that brings together people from different walks of life in unity and devotion.
He further appealed to Nigerians to continue to be patient with the government, assuring that efforts are being intensified to improve the welfare of citizens and advance national development.
