Six days after resigning from the All Progressives Congress, APC, former Deputy President of the 9th Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege has made a dramatic political move, joining the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, with a renewed bid to represent Delta Central in the Senate.
In a personally signed statement released Thursday, Omo-Agege said his decision followed weeks of consultations with political allies, grassroots supporters, and stakeholders across the country.
The former lawmaker will now align with the NDC’s sole presidential aspirant, Peter Obi, as the party positions itself as an alternative platform ahead of the 2027 general election.
Omo-Agege described the NDC as a people-driven movement built on inclusion, transparency, and true federalism, adding that the party offers what he called “the clearest path” to advancing the interests of Delta State and Nigeria at large.
The move marks a significant shift in Delta State’s political landscape, as the NDC continues to attract key figures in its bid to reshape Nigeria’s political direction.
With the 2027 elections on the horizon, Omo-Agege says the mission is clear, “to return power to the people” and usher in a new era of accountable leadership.
