Senator Kabiru Marafa has secured the governorship ticket of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, in Zamfara State, with a promise to improve security and ensure transparent leadership.
The former lawmaker emerged unopposed through a consensus arrangement adopted by the party during a gathering in Gusau.
Chairman of the party’s election committee, Aminu Jelani, formally announced his emergence as the NDC governorship candidate for the 2027 general election.

Addressing party supporters shortly after the announcement, Marafa thanked members for the trust placed in him and assured them of purposeful leadership if elected governor.
He identified corruption as one of the major setbacks to development in Zamfara and pledged to promote accountability and prudent management of state resources.
Marafa also promised to strengthen governance, improve the living conditions of residents, and ensure equal opportunities for all citizens across the state.
