The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has presented its fifth witness in the trial of former Minister of Power, Olu Agunloye, over the alleged fraudulent award of the $6 billion Mambilla Hydropower Project contract.
Testifying before the FCT High Court in Abuja, Assistant Director of Legal at the Federal Ministry of Power, Iliya John Iyakwari, told the court that he certified and transmitted extracts of the May 21, 2003 Federal Executive Council meeting to the EFCC following a formal request by the anti-graft agency.
The witness confirmed documents relating to the EFCC’s request and the ministry’s response, which were admitted as exhibits.
Agunloye is facing a seven-count charge bordering on official corruption and the alleged unlawful award of the $6 billion Mambilla Power Project contract to Sunrise Power Transmission Company Limited.
Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie adjourned the matter until June 8, 2026, for cross-examination of the witness.
