Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has assured protesting teachers and civil society organisations in Abuja that security agencies are intensifying efforts to secure the release of abducted teachers and students in the Territory.
The Minister gave the assurance on Tuesday while addressing demonstrators who gathered in front of the FCT Administration Secretariat, demanding the immediate rescue of victims of recent school abductions.
He, however, cautioned against politicising security challenges, stressing that insecurity is a nationwide issue that requires collective responsibility rather than political division.
The FCT minister further revealed that security agencies are operating within established protocols and have recorded significant progress in ongoing rescue efforts.
According to him, no responsible government would deliberately leave its citizens at the mercy of criminal elements, noting that authorities continue to work under difficult conditions to safeguard lives and property.
