Hollywood legend, Clint Eastwood retires from filmmaking at 96

Renowned American actor, film director, film producer, singer, composer and lyricist Clinton Elias Eastwood (Jr.) known by the stage name Clint Hollywood; has said goodbye to filmmaking at 96 years old.

The retirement of the San Francisco, California, United States born screen legend was made public by his son, Kyle Eastwood who said his father no longer plans to direct films and has officially retired; adding that he has many fond memories of working with his father.

Clint Eastwood who clocked 96 years on May 31, 2026; had remained one of Hollywood’s most active directors and has continued to release new films.

The four-time Oscar-winning actor and director began his career in the 1960s and has starred in over 70 films and acted in multiple television series, including the eight-season series Rawhide (1959–1965).

Eastwood directed his first film, “Play Misty for Me” in the 1970s and became one of the most influential directors in modern cinema with some of his most famous produced and directed works which include “Unforgiven,” “The Bridges of Madison County,” “Million Dollar Baby,” “Gran Torino,” “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” among several creative works.

The legendary filmmaker is one of the most successful actor-turned-directors who has refused to be bound by a specific genre.

He skillfully turned his hand to westerns, thrillers, biopics, romances, war films and musicals and was known for his quick-speed directorial style, often wrapping ahead of schedule and under budget.

Worthy of note is his final film, “Juror 2” released in 2024; which has received positive reviews from critics and audiences.
