Delta State Governor, on Wednesday inaugurated three road projects with a combined length of about 18 kilometres in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the state.

The projects include the 4.5-kilometre Obi-Ibabu/Ibabu Road in Onicha-Ukwuani, Phase One of the 5-kilometre Utagba-Uno/Ndemili Road, and the 8.4-kilometre Etua-Ukpo/Etua-Etiti/Etua-Oliogo Road.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony in Utagba-Uno, the governor described the projects as critical infrastructure that would boost economic activities, improve rural connectivity, and enhance development across Ndokwa Nation.

The governor explained that the Utagba-Uno/Ndemili Road was designed as a phased project, with the first phase covering about five kilometres.

According to him, the projects reflect his administration’s commitment to ensuring equitable infrastructure development across all local government areas of the state.

Oborevwori also recalled the groundbreaking ceremony of the Aboh-Akarai Road and Bridge project across the Okiri River in Ndokwa East, where he pledged fair distribution of development projects across Delta State.

He commended the contractors for the pace of work, noting that the projects would improve connectivity, reduce transportation costs, enhance access to markets, attract investments, and stimulate socio-economic activities in the area.

The governor, however, expressed displeasure over delays in the completion of the Inam-Abbi Access Road and Utagba-Uno-Eweshi Road projects, which were initially scheduled for inauguration alongside the completed roads.

He directed the Ministry of Works to ensure the projects are completed before the end of the year, warning that his administration would not tolerate unnecessary delays in project execution.

He also directed the Commissioner for Works to commence processes for the execution of the second phase of the Utagba-Uno/Ndemili Road project.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to prudent governance, the governor said the visible infrastructure projects across the state were products of careful resource management and deliberate efforts to improve the welfare of residents.

Earlier, the Deputy Governor, , described the projects as the fulfilment of long-standing aspirations of the people of Ndokwa Nation.

He commended the governor for his commitment to infrastructural development and assured him of the continued support of the people.

Also speaking, said the projects had transformed previously inaccessible communities and would significantly improve transportation and economic activities in the area.

The inauguration attracted traditional rulers, political leaders, government officials, community stakeholders, and residents from across Ndokwa Nation, who applauded the governor for what they described as unprecedented infrastructure development in the area.
