More wins for women in Nigeria’s political space, as the National Democratic Party, NDP has presented a female presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party unveiled Ada Frederick as its standard bearer, making her one of the few women currently in the race.
Her emergence adds to the growing, though still limited female representation in Nigeria’s presidential contest.
Out of the candidates so far, only a handful are women, highlighting both progress and the continuing gender gap in national politics.
This development is being seen as a positive step for gender inclusion, especially in a political environment historically dominated by men. It also signals a broader push by newer and smaller parties to project diversity and tap into youth and grassroots support.
