Imo State Governor and PGF Chairman, Hope Uzodimma

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has commended the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction for its intervention programmes, which is cushioning the harsh economy of households.

The Governor observed that the reform initiative in the programme of transiting from physical cash disbursements to direct bank account payments for beneficiaries, will strengthen transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the delivery of social welfare programmes.

Speaking during a meeting with the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Bernard Doro in Owerri, Governor Uzodimma described the payment reform as a significant step towards ensuring that assistance reached intended beneficiaries in a secure and seamless manner.

According to the Governor more than sixty-five thousand young people in Imo State have been trained in various digital competencies, with many of the beneficiaries now working remotely for international organisations and earning sustainable incomes.

Earlier, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Bernard Doro, while commending the State Government for its strides in infrastructure development and social welfare programmes,
expressed the Ministry’s willingness to partner the State government, particularly through the Imo Digital City Hub, to expand digital skills training across the State.
