Ogun State Government has reassured parents, guidance as well as teachers and students in the state of its commitment to providing a safe and secure learning environment across the state.

This assurance came during the inauguration of the Ogun State Safe School Steering Committee at the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Speaking on behalf of Governor Dapo Abiodun at the inauguration of the Ogun State Safe School Steering Committee, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu, said the state remains committed to creating a secure atmosphere where every child can learn without fear.

He explained that the initiative, being implemented in partnership with the Federal Government, is aimed at strengthening security architecture around schools and sustaining quality education in a safe environment.

Stakeholders at the meeting pledged their commitment to the assignment, noting that the responsibility of keeping schools safe goes beyond government and security agencies and requires the collective support of all residents.

The inauguration comes against the backdrop of recent security concerns in the country, including the kidnapping of teachers and students in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, an incident that remains fresh in the minds of many Nigerians.

The Safe School Project, an initiative of the Federal Government, is expected to be replicated across states of the federation as part of efforts to guarantee that Nigerian students pursue their education without fear of insecurity.
