The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested seven suspects linked to kidnapping, homicide, arms trafficking, and one-chance robbery within the territory.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ahmed Sanusi, disclosed this during a media briefing in Abuja saying three suspected kidnappers were arrested in Zuba following the circulation of viral videos showing armed men dressed in military camouflage.

The Police Commissioner said the arrests were part of ongoing efforts by the command to combat violent crimes and enhance security across the Federal Capital Territory.

The Police Commissioner also disclosed that operatives uncovered the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of a 22-year-old man, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, initially reported as a kidnapping case.

He said Investigations led to the arrest of Emmanuel Acha Leku and his girlfriend in Benue State, the suspect who allegedly murdered the victim in Lokogoma over proceeds from a fraudulent deal and later demanded a five-million-naira ransom from the victim’s family to conceal the crime.

The police also arrested a wanted logistics and ammunition supplier identified as Yau Sule along the Abuja-Kaduna Highway. The suspect, who had been on the Command’s watchlist since 2023, was found in possession of 81 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition and 100 rounds of belted ammunition for a General Purpose Machine Gun.

The Command also arrested two suspected one-chance robbers along the Giri-Lugbe Road after rescuing a female victim who had been dispossessed of her valuables. Recovered items included a laptop, an iPhone, a laptop charger, knives, and scissors. Commissioner Sanusi assured residents of the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information to security agencies to enhance safety across the Federal Capital Territory.
