Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has paid an unscheduled visit to pilgrims from the state performing Hajj in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, with plans to ensure their safe and swift return to Nigeria after the pilgrimage top on his visit.
The governor also used the visit to assess the catering services provided to the pilgrims and address other challenges encountered by the pilgrims during the Hajj activities.
Hundreds of government-sponsored and private Kano pilgrims received the governor, Abba Yusuf in a carnival like atmosphere as he visits them in Saudi Arabia after they have successfully performed the holy rites.
Governor Abba Yusuf said he came to assess the welfare of the pilgrims and inspect the quality of food and other services being provided to them.
Interacting with pilgrims and officials of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Yusuf assured them that he would engage the airline management to facilitate their prompt return home haven completed the hajj activities.
Director-General of the Board, Abubakar Matawalle, who briefed the governor on the progress of the Hajj operation and some challenges encountered, expressed appreciation for the visit.
Governor Yusuf also urged eligible pilgrims without voter cards to register upon their return to Nigeria and participate in the electoral process as part of duties to the growth of democracy.
