The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Benin Zone has raised alarm over what it describes as the continued refusal of Edo, Ondo and Delta State Governments to implement the 2025 Federal Government/ASUU Agreement in their state-owned Universities.
The union raised the concern at a media briefing in Benin and warned that after waiting for six months without any concrete action, lecturers are now mobilising for an indefinite strike.
ASUU maintains that it remains committed to industrial harmony but insists that peace can only be sustained when agreements freely entered into are honoured and urges the three state governments to act swiftly to avert another disruption of academic activities.
The affected institutions include Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma; Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko; Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa; Delta State University, Abraka; University of Delta, Agbor; Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba; and Southern Delta University, Ozoro.
