The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting Nigeria’s image on the global stage, with the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development pledging support for Miss World Nigeria, Queen Tamunosoye Karibi-George, ahead of the forthcoming Miss World Pageant in Vietnam.

The assurance came as the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, received the beauty queen and her entourage in Abuja on Tuesday, describing aviation and tourism as mutually reinforcing sectors that drive national development.

Leading the delegation, Team Lead, Prince Iwefa Aganaba said the visit was to seek the Ministry’s partnership in promoting Nigeria on the international stage through the pageant.

Queen Tamunosoye Karibi-George thanked the Minister for the reception and appealed for support towards her participation in the global competition. She also sought support for her humanitarian project, which she said focuses on service, empowerment and national development.

Responding, Keyamo congratulated the Queen on emerging winner of what he described as a highly competitive contest.

He noted that beauty queens serve as ambassadors who promote their country’s culture, tourism and global image, adding that aviation remains a key driver of tourism.

The Minister recalled Nigeria’s success through former Miss World, Agbani Darego, expressing confidence that Queen Tamunosoye could also make the country proud on the world stage.

As part of the Ministry’s support, Keyamo directed the Director of Air Transport Management to engage foreign airlines operating in Nigeria to consider providing return flight tickets to Vietnam under their Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.

He also disclosed plans to discuss with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, the possibility of displaying the Queen’s promotional materials at selected international airports across the country.

The Minister further revealed plans to engage Air Peace on a possible partnership to support the Queen’s future international engagements as part of efforts to promote Nigeria’s tourism potential.
