The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it will deploy 3,763 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices for the August 15, 2026, Osun State Governorship Election as part of measures to ensure a credible, transparent, and hitch-free poll.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Oluwatoyin Babalola, disclosed this at a press briefing in Osogbo, where he also outlined the commission’s level of preparedness for the election.

With less than seven weeks to the August 15 Osun State Governorship Election, the Independent National Electoral Commission says it is making adequate preparations for a hitch-free, fair, and credible governorship election.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Oluwatoyin Babalola, who briefed journalists, announced that INEC has received and distributed 80 percent of the non-sensitive election materials required for the exercise, while arrangements are in place for the delivery of sensitive materials ahead of the poll.

The commission says it will activate 97 Super Registration Area Centres and 105 Registration Area Centres to camp election officials for early deployment on election day.

According to the REC, 3,763 BVAS devices, with 664 backup machines, have been prepared for voter accreditation and electronic transmission of polling unit results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
