Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has expressed delight over the state’s receipt of a 4 million US dollar World Bank support grant after emerging as one of the best-performing states in the implementation of key education and healthcare reforms in Nigeria.
Speaking during the weekly State Executive Council meeting at Government House, Yenagoa, Governor Diri attributed the achievement to his administration’s commitment to reforms in the education and health sectors.
He said the recognition would spur the government to further improve public service delivery, particularly in providing quality healthcare and strengthening the education system for the benefit of Bayelsans.
Bayelsa is among five states selected to benefit from the World Bank support programme. The other beneficiary states are Borno, Kebbi, Yobe, and Kano.
The grant is expected to support ongoing reforms and enhance service delivery in the education and healthcare sectors.
