The Federal Government has started the distribution of Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care equipment to healthcare facilities across Bauchi State.

The intervention, under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, includes the supply of critical medical equipment, essential drugs and other healthcare commodities to selected primary healthcare facilities across fifteen local government areas of the state.

At an event to flag off the distribution at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, said the intervention would equip twenty primary healthcare centres with life-saving medical equipment and commodities.

He added that fifteen tricycle ambulances and six conventional ambulances would be deployed to strengthen emergency referral services and improve access to quality healthcare, particularly in rural communities.

The Minister urged healthcare workers and facility managers to ensure the judicious use of the equipment and commodities, warning against diversion, illegal charges and any form of misuse of government resources.

Representing Governor Bala Mohammed, the Deputy Governor, Auwal Jatau, commended the Federal Government for the intervention, describing it as a major boost to healthcare service delivery in Bauchi State, particularly in underserved communities.

The event also featured the presentation of Certificates of Excellence to graduating National Health Fellows from the twenty local government areas of Bauchi State under the National Health Fellowship Programme.
