Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recorded a major operational success after dislodging bandits from Dutsen Gida Hill, about 17 kilometres outside Gummi town in Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The operation led to the neutralisation of scores of terrorists and the recovery of dozens of motorcycles allegedly used by the criminals to terrorise local communities.
According to a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army/Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, the troops demonstrated exceptional tactical superiority during the operation.
The statement added that the soldiers’ return to base was met with a spontaneous show of appreciation, as large crowds gathered to cheer the troops in recognition of their bravery, professionalism, and sacrifices.
It further noted that residents of Gummi town took to the streets on Thursday in celebration, applauding the gallant troops for the successful operation and renewed efforts to restore peace in the area.
Lieutenant Colonel Osoba said the overwhelming public support reflects growing confidence in the ongoing military operations across the North-West and highlights the strengthening relationship and mutual trust between local communities and security forces.
