The Ogun State Police Command has arrested forty-three suspected criminals during a fresh raid under its ongoing Operation Kosaye, bringing the total number of suspects prosecuted since the operation began to seventy-six.

Police say the operation targeted a notorious criminal hideout at Isheri-Olofin along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The information is contained in a press statement signed by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi made available to Africa Independent Television AIT explained that the coordinated operation was carried out by operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics, SWAT Unit, following credible intelligence that the location had become a hideout for suspected cultists, drug traffickers, prostitutes and other criminal elements.

The Police said twenty-eight males and fifteen females were arrested during the late-night operation.

Items recovered from the scene include substances suspected to be Indian hemp, “Loud” and other hard drugs, ten mobile phones, four power banks, a rechargeable hand fan, as well as a cross-body bag containing two ATM cards and a National Identity Card, among other exhibits.

According to the Command, all forty-three suspects have been charged to court and remanded in a correctional facility over offences including criminal conspiracy, membership of an unlawful society, unlawful assembly, conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace, possession of suspected cannabis, prostitution, operating an unlicensed brothel and other related offences.

The Police also disclosed that some of the suspects are providing useful information to investigators, while follow-up operations are ongoing to arrest other members of the suspected criminal network.

Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Bode Ojajuni, commended the professionalism of the SWAT operatives, describing the operation as another major success in the ongoing crackdown on crime.

He reiterated that criminal hideouts, drug joints, brothels used as cover for criminal activities and other black spots across the state will continue to be identified and dismantled.

The Commissioner also urged residents to support the Police with credible and timely information, assuring them that the Command remains committed to intelligence-led policing and the protection of lives and property.
