The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of its factional leader, Nafiu Bala Gombe following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s INEC dismissal of his claim that he had obtained the Commission’s Access Code and uploaded candidates for the 2027 general election.

Bala on Sunday through a statement with the attachment of the candidates list on unverified INEC’s portal, said the process had been successfully completed.

The uploaded include Presidential, Vice-Presidential, and National Assembly candidates on the INEC portal for the 2027 General Elections.

Less than 48 hours, the Electoral Commission through its Media unit denied Bala’s claim that his group gained access to the nomination portal and uploading of candidates’ names.

Reacting to the development, the National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi explained that INEC’s denying and describing Bala’s circulated claim as false and forged, amounted to a criminal attempt to undermine the integrity of INEC.

The Party urged the Commission to refer the matter to law enforcement agencies, warning that allowing such claims to go unpunished could erode public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral process.

Abdullahi also raised concern that such claims are capable of undermining public confidence in the electoral process that can further create unnecessary political tension and casting doubt on the security and credibility of INEC’s systems.

The Party insisted that others involved in originating or promoting the falsehood should also be investigated and prosecuted alongside with Bala in accordance with the law, clarifying that it is not only about the ADC, but protecting the integrity of public institutions.

ait.live reached out to Nafiu Bala’s group, but it is unresponsive to calls or messages.
