Gunmen suspected to be bandits have kidnapped four students at Government Secondary School, Odo-Ekina, in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The abducted students were writing the NECO examination. Also taken away were the principal and an ad hoc staff member of the examination body.
The school came under attack at about 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday, 14th July, 2026.
Immediately after the attack, a combined team of the Police and other security agencies launched a search-and-rescue operation and is currently on the trail of the assailants.
The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday morning.
According to Afusat, one of the abducted students has been rescued, while efforts are ongoing to secure the safe rescue of the remaining victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
