Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to the State of Israel, Nkechi Ufochukwu, has arrived at the Nigeria Mission in Tel Aviv.
In a statement, Ambassador Ufochukwu described her posting as “a new chapter” and expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, the Government and people of Nigeria for the trust reposed in her.
“I am humbled to arrive Tel Aviv as Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to the State of Israel. I am excited for the work ahead in advancing Nigeria-Israel relations,” she said.
The Ambassador-designate stated that her focus during her tour of duty will be on deepening collaboration between Nigeria and Israel in key areas including trade, innovation, security, and people-to-people relations.
Her arrival comes as part of the ongoing deployment of Nigeria’s new batch of envoys after securing agreements from the host governments. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 65 of the 69 ambassadors-designate approved by President Tinubu have so far secured agrément from their host countries and have proceeded to their respective missions after completing induction the induction programme.
The remaining 4 are still awaiting formal approval from their host countries.
Ambassador Ufochukwu’s assumption of duty is expected to further strengthen the longstanding diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the State of Israel.
