Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Naziru Kankarofi, has confirmed that the abductors of four people during an attack of a NECO examination centre at Government Secondary School, Olowa, in Dekina Local Government Area have contacted the victims’ families, demanding a ₦10 million ransom for their release.
Kankarofi said this at the launch of an intensive rescue operation. He explained that the Police, Nigerian Army, local vigilantes and hunters have launched coordinated bush-combing and intelligence-led operations aimed at rescuing the victims unharmed and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
The Commissioner led a joint security team to the scene for an on-the-spot assessment and to coordinate ongoing rescue operations.
The latest abduction in Olowa comes just weeks after suspected bandits attacked a secondary school in Iluke, Kogi West Senatorial District, an assault that was successfully repelled by a combined security force.
