Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma have rescued 13 abducted victims and foiled terrorist operations in separate intelligence-led missions in Anka and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas of Zamfara State, North-West Nigeria.
This was made known in a statement by the Media Information Officer of Operation Fansan Yamma, Lieutenant-Colonel Aliyu Danja.
According to him, troops of Sector 2 stationed in Bagega swiftly responded to credible intelligence indicating that armed terrorists were advancing on motorcycles towards Tungan Kudaduku in Anka Local Government Area.
The troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their mission and flee the area.
According to the statement a follow-up search led to the discovery of a makeshift terrorist camp, where five kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed.
In a separate operation at Ungwan Rogo in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, Danja said troops acted on credible intelligence of terrorist activities and confronted the criminals in a fierce gun battle.
The terrorists were overwhelmed and fled in disarray, abandoning their captives.
According to the statement operation resulted in the rescue of eight additional victims, while two vehicles were recovered and handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and necessary action.
