A visually impaired legal practitioner, Melody Omosah, took oath of office as a Permanent Secretary in the Edo State Civil Service, alongside 19 others.
This followed their successful completion of the state’s competitive promotion process.
The Governor also administered the oath of office to two new commissioners, including Martin Anayochukwu, an indigene of Enugu State, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to competence, inclusiveness and national integration.
Governor Monday Okpebholo presided over the swearing-in of two commissioners, 20 permanent secretaries and the inauguration of the Governing Council of the Edo State College of Health Sciences and Technology.
One of the high points of the ceremony was the inauguration of Melody Omosah, a visually impaired lawyer with the Edo State Ministry of Justice. Omosah emerged successful after passing the competitive examination conducted for senior civil servants seeking appointment as permanent secretaries.
Speaking shortly after taking the oath of office, Melody Omosah expressed appreciation to Governor Okpebholo for providing equal opportunities to qualified civil servants irrespective of physical disability, describing the appointment as a demonstration of inclusive and merit-based.

Governor Okpebholo also swore in two new commissioners , Martin Anayochukwu, an indigene of Enugu State, and Kayode Iriabkhai, a former operative of the Department of State Services (DSS) from Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State. The appointments, according to the Governor, are aimed at strengthening governance and enhancing service delivery across the state.
The colourful ceremony ended with photographs, congratulatory handshakes and celebrations as the newly inaugurated officials formally assumed their responsibilities in the administration.
