Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has directed all commercial tricycle and minibus operators to register on the state’s digital transport database, describing the initiative as a key step towards strengthening security and protecting commuters.
The Governor said this at the July edition of Government House Monthly Prayer Service in Uyo, the state capital.
Governor Eno said the free digital registration will enable commuters to identify the operators of any commercial tricycle or minibus they board. He warned that from August, any unregistered commercial vehicle would be impounded to prevent criminals from disguising as transport operators.
The Governor also announced that free internet service will soon be available at the Victor Attah International Airport as part of efforts to improve public services and strengthen digital infrastructure.

On environmental sanitation, Governor Eno condemned the indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainage channels and announced stricter enforcement of sanitation laws.
Governor Eno thanked Akwa Ibom State people for their continued support and prayers, attributing the state’s peace, stability and development to the collective cooperation of its citizens.
