Nigeria Insecurity: Senate calls for war against terrorist

The Nigerian senate has called on the Executive arm of government to declare war against bandits and terrorist threatening the peaceful co-existence and causing major threat to lives and properties of the citizens across the country

This followed a motion by senator sani Musa on tuesday, calling on the attention of the senate on the recent attack in communities in shiroro local government area of Niger state on Tuesday January 11 2022 , where 13 persons were confirmed killed by suspected bandits in shiroro local government area

The lawmaker says that during the deadly operation scores of persons sustained injuries and many others kidnapped to unknown destination.

He lamented that these attacks have continued in the north- west and north central despite repeated government assurances to address the escalating atrocities

He says over 151,380 people mostly peasant farmers have been displaced by activities of bandits in the last two years

Reacting to the incident , some Lawmakers from the All progressives congress ,lamented the heightened insecurity in the country , which has persisted,with some communities even asked to pay 24million Naira or face more attacks

Senator Stella oduah says similar reports and resolution reached in time past in the Senate on ways to tackle issues of Insecurity should be revisited , to forestall further attacks

The Senate in it’s resolution called on the federal government to establish a military base at shiroro local Government to restore confidence in the people of the community and safeguard national assests located within the area such as the shiroro hydro electric power dam.
