Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has reshuffled the State Executive Council, redeploying key Commissioners and swearing in two new ones.
He said the action will strengthen governance and accelerate service delivery under his administration’s “People First” agenda.
The changes were announced during the State Executive Council meeting at the Executive Council Chambers, Governor’s Office, Calabar.
The changes saw the redeployment of some Commissioners to new Ministries, while Lawrentia Ita Effiong retained her position as Commissioner for Establishment and Pensions with the Executive Council Secretariat added to her portfolio.
Governor Otu also inaugurated Dodeye Ikpi Arikpo as Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, and Obi Ayuk as Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, charging them to justify the confidence reposed in them through dedicated and impactful service.
He urged the commissioners to remain focused on governance despite growing political activities, and directed those affected by the redeployment to ensure a seamless handover of government assets, official documents and ongoing projects.
Responding on behalf of the newly sworn-in Commissioners, Dodeye Arikpo, thanked Governor Otu for finding them worthy of the appointments and pledged their commitment to supporting the administration’s development agenda through effective service delivery.
With the swearing-in concluded and new portfolios assigned, the affected commissioners are expected to resume their duties immediately as government business continues across the various Ministries.
