An abducted female farmer from Parubber Community in the Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State has died in captivity.
The deceased was one of two farmers abducted by gunmen, who reportedly took them into a forest and demanded a ransom of one hundred million naira from their families.
Confirming the incident, the State Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, said the woman was already exhausted and unconscious when operatives arrived at the scene of the rescue.
He, however, said the other kidnapped farmer, a male, was rescued alive by the operatives.
The commander also disclosed that the corps recently secured the release of two boys abducted in Owo Local Government Area, allegedly by suspected herdsmen, without the payment of ransom.
Adeleye said the operations demonstrate the determination of security agencies to deny criminals safe havens and hiding places across Ondo State.
