The Kogi and Edo State Police commands are strengthening joint security operations along the Okene-Auchi border with a focus on tackling kidnapping, boundary clashes and other lcriminal activities.
The move followed a joint inspection of the area, including the Aguni forest, and a meeting with traditional leaders, local government officials and community security groups to address security concerns across the border.
The Okene-Auchi border connects two states and serves as an important commercial route.
But the vast terrain around the border has also presented security challenges.

At Oguda community, the Kogi and Edo Police Commands began their joint inspection by engaging local stakeholders, with the Kogi Commissioner of Police
The Area Commander, Okene Police Station, Nosa Onokube identified the Aguni forest, located close to the highway, as one of the areas requiring closer security attention.
For the security agencies, stronger communication with communities and closer coordination between both commands remain critical to keeping the Okene-Auchi border axis safe.
