Edo State Government says it has taken custody of a 14-year-old girl who was allegedly impregnated by her father.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Eugenia Abdallah disclosed this at the August monthly joint briefing organised by the state Ministry of Information and Strategy.
Abdallah said the girl, who is now eight months pregnant, has refused to disclose her father’s whereabouts, reportedly because she fears he may be arrested and prosecuted.
She said the girl claimed she is now in love with her father.

The Commissioner said more than 72 cases of alleged defilement of minors have been recorded in Edo State in the past seven months.
Abdallah also outlined measures being implemented by the state government to protect women and the girl-child from harassment, molestation, defilement and other forms of abuse.
