Troops of the Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA have thwarted multiple terrorist attacks across Katsina and Kebbi States.
They also neutralised two terrorists, rescued an abducted construction worker, and recovered arms and operational motorcycles.
The troops also supported the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in a targeted operation that led to the interception of illicit drugs.
In a statement, the spokesperson for the Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said troops of Sector Two swiftly responded to reported terrorist activities in Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Danja said the troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce firefight, neutralising two of them while forcing others to retreat and flee the area.
The operation also led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and a magazine.
In a separate operation under Operation CLEAN SWEEP IV in southern Kebbi State, troops responded to a distress call following the abduction of a construction company worker at Tsatsunbe Village.
According to the statement, the troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abandon their captive and flee, leaving behind their operational motorcycles.
Meanwhile, in an inter-agency operation with the NDLEA, troops supported a raid on a suspected drug peddler’s hideout in Gozaki Village, Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State, where significant quantities of illicit drugs were recovered.
The Theatre Command says it remains resolute in its mission to pursue criminal elements, protect vulnerable communities and foster a safer environment across the North-West.
