Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board, ZSUBEB, has revived the Inter-Primary Schools Sports Competition. The initiative is aimed at promoting peace, unity and healthy interaction among children from diverse communities amid the State’s security challenges.
The competition culminated in the State-level finals of the 2024 Basic Education Sports Tournament, held at the Zamfara State College of Arts and Sciences.
The tournament featured five sporting events, including volleyball, handball and football. It involved boys and girls from Primary and Junior Secondary schools across the State.
According to the organisers, the competition is designed to encourage sporting activities among pupils and students, promote peace and unity through sports, and support the development of basic education in Zamfara State.
In the football final competition, Talata Mafara Zone defeated Kaura Namoda Zone by a lone goal to emerge as champions.
The tournament ended with the presentation of trophies to winners in the various categories.
Authorities have announced that the winning teams are expected to represent Zamfara State at the forthcoming North-West Zonal Competition.
