The Federal Republic of Nigeria and the German Federation have reaffirmed their commitment to a stronger, more dynamic bilateral relationship.
The pledge was made in Berlin as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany, Ambassador Ita Solomon Enang, received the incoming German Ambassador-Designate to Nigeria, Ambsador Stefan Roessel, at the Embassy in Berlin.
In a symbolic diplomatic gesture ahead of his deployment to Abuja, Ambassador Enang personally presented the diplomatic visa processed by the Nigerian Mission to Ambassador Roessel.
The meeting provided both envoys an opportunity to deliberate on a shared vision for deepening and modernizing the Nigeria-Germany strategic partnership.
Discussions centred on expanding cooperation in key areas, including trade and investment, education, culture, innovation, regional peace and security, and people-to-people relations.
Ambassador Enang welcomed the Ambassador-Designate and encouraged him to engage broadly across Nigeria during his tenure.

He urged Ambassador Roessel to experience firsthand Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity, economic opportunities, youthful energy, and growing potential, while also promoting what he described as “a balanced and factual understanding of the country” on the global stage.
Responding, Ambassador Roessel expressed enthusiasm for his forthcoming assignment in Abuja and reiterated Germany’s commitment to exploring new avenues for mutually beneficial cooperation with Nigeria.
He noted that Germany views Nigeria as a key partner in West Africa and on the continent and looks forward to working closely with Nigerian authorities to advance shared interests.
The engagement comes at a time when both nations are seeking to expand economic ties, increase German investment in Nigeria’s infrastructure and technology sectors, and enhance collaboration on migration, security, and sustainable development.
Ambassador Roessel is expected to assume duty at the German Embassy in Abuja in the coming weeks.
