Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo has called on the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu to be committed in his new task as leading country’s major opposition party ahead of the general election in 2023.

Obasanjo who gave the advice while addressing top officials of the party on Saturday in Abeokuta shortly after a closed-door meeting with the PDP delegation led by Dr. Ayu to his residence in Ogun state capital used the opportunity to make further clarifications on his retirement from partisan politics.

The meeting which lasted for about two and half hours had in attendance the 2019 PDP Vice Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, former Governors, Sule Lamido of Jigawa State Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, Liyel Imoke and Donald Duke both of Cross River State, including the Deputy National Chairman (South), Taofeek Arapaja and other party officials drawn from national and state levels.
The meeting with former President Obasanjo, according to the PDP is part of ongoing consultations with critical stakeholders on how best to solve current national challenges in Nigeria.
