Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, says the reconstruction of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium will restore the state’s position as a leading football destination in Nigeria while opening up new opportunities for sports and economic development.
The Governor stated this during an inspection of the ongoing reconstruction of the stadium in Kaduna.
Governor Sani said Kaduna has a long-standing football tradition and has produced several players who have contributed significantly to Nigerian and international football.
He said the decision to rebuild the stadium followed years of deterioration, noting that the facility has not hosted CAF-level football since 2016.
The Governor said the reconstructed stadium will have a 33,000-capacity and feature a hybrid pitch designed to meet international standards.
He expressed confidence that the upgraded facility would enable Kaduna to attract major football competitions and regain its place on the national and continental sporting map.
Former Super Eagles star, Daniel Amokachi, and other ex-internationals, commended Governor Uba Sani for the transformation of the stadium, describing the project as one of a kind in Nigeria and saying Kaduna deserves the best sporting facilities.
Governor Sani expressed optimism that the reconstructed Ahmadu Bello Stadium would be completed and officially commissioned by the end of November.
