The Federal Government says it has disbursed up to 95%, of the total fund budgeted for the first phase, of Livelihood Improvement and Family Enterprises Project in the Niger Delta (LIFE-ND).
The project which was launched in 2019 with an initial budget of $97.8 million, has impacted 27,222 beneficiaries, 26,470 incubatees and created 23,751 new Agri-businesses.
Since its inception in February 2019, the Nigerian Government and International Fund for Agriculture Development, IFAD have made significant efforts towards monitoring and improving the Livelihood Improvement and Family Enterprises Project in the Niger Delta (LIFE-ND).
There has been supervision mission every year to evaluate implementation in the participating states of Abia, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Ondo, Akwa Ibom, Imo and Rivers. This 6th Supervision Mission is therefore to identify challenges, best practices and lessons learned that will shape the design of phase two of project.
With disbursement recording 95% of the total funds received, the project has made a significant impact with 74% of participating states increasing their agriculture production, while 82.8% households have successfully adopted improved agricultural technologies.
Demonstrating strong performance and visible impact, the LIFE-ND project has also secured a $32 million additional financing agreement from IFAD, that sums the total project budget to $129.8 million, along with a three-year extension.
