Nigerian Army has successfully rescued the wife of Brigadier-General Basil Adonkie (Rtd), who was abducted from her Abuja residence on Tuesday.
A statement released by the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army, says troops of the Guards Brigade and Army Headquarters, AHQ Garrison immediately launched a coordinated pursuit operation along multiple suspected escape routes to locate the kidnappers and secure the safe release of the victim.
The statement said a follow-up operation on Wednesday, led to the arrest of fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate near Gaube Village in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.
The statement added that the troops’ rapid response and superior firepower, forced the criminals to abandon the victim and flee into nearby bushes, leading to her rescue at Angwan Sabo Village.
The troops subsequently intensified the pursuit along the Aco Estate-Angwan Sayawa area, while additional forces were deployed to block likely escape routes and prevent the criminals from evading capture.
Aside from the arrest of the two suspected kidnappers, troops also recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine and 19 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
The troops have continued clearance and tracking operations across the general area to apprehend the remaining suspects.

The Army in conjunction with other security agencies remain resolute in sustaining aggressive, intelligence-driven and joint security operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and enhancing security across the Federal Capital Territory and its environs.
