Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has inaugurated two pilgrimage boards, a rural roads agency and a consumer protection committee.
He challenged them to prioritise the public interest in the discharge of their duties.
The Governor gave the charge during the inauguration ceremony at the Government House in Benin City, where he urged the appointees to serve with integrity, humility and dedication.
The newly inaugurated bodies are the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Consumer Protection Committee and the Edo State Rural Access Roads Agency, RARA.
Governor Monday Okpebholo congratulated the appointees, describing their appointments as a call to responsible service to the people and a responsibility before God.
Responding, Chairman of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Very Rev. Fr. Alfred Agbonlahor, and Chairman of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mallam Musa Muhammad Uduimoh, thanked the Governor for the confidence reposed in them.
They pledged to promote the welfare of pilgrims and provide efficient, transparent and satisfactory services to intending pilgrims.
The Chairman of the Consumer Protection Committee, Iyamu Osaro, also assured the Governor of the committee’s commitment to protecting consumers and promoting fairness and accountability in commercial activities.
Momodu Oghenakhoghie Goodluck was inaugurated as Director-General of the Edo State Rural Access Roads Agency, RARA, while members of the various boards and committee formally assumed responsibility for their respective mandates.
