The Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi has challenged rival politicians to speak directly to the electorate, stressing that true leadership cannot be outsourced.
Obi made the call during a town hall meeting in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, tagged “Obi Talks Nigeria”, hosted by the NDC Governorship candidate, Dumo Lulu Briggs.
He promised transparent governance, emphasizing that he and his running mate have nothing to fear regarding their identity and pledged an administration focused on education, health, and aggressive youth employment if voted into office.
Addressing lessons from the past, Obi vowed that the party is fully prepared to do the needful ahead of the January 2027 general elections.
Blaming bad leadership for the collapse of national assets, widespread insecurity, and soaring unemployment, Obi outlined a blueprint for national recovery.
His plan centres on shifting Nigeria’s economy from consumption to production, with a strong emphasis on agricultural revolution and competitive funding for small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs).
In his opening remarks, Vice Presidential Candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso slammed the ruling party for failing to ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians, asserting that the NDC is unperturbed by the bloc of over 30 state governors on the APC card
On his part, the party’s governorship candidate in Rivers State, Dumo Lulu-Briggs urged the electorate to protect their votes resolutely during the January 16, 2027 polls.
Reiterating his core priorities, Peter Obi concluded that his administration will invest massively in education as one of the surest pathway to national development, alongside a total overhaul of the healthcare sector.
