The Nigerian government has successfully signed renegotiated agreements with seven educational-based non-teaching staff unions after days of talks.

The leadership of one of the unions, the Senior Staff Union in Colleges of Education of Nigeria, SSUCOEN said the agreements hope to calm the agitations in the colleges, since the federal government had earlier signed similar agreement with the colleges of education academic staff union, COEASU

The unions who signed the agreements on thursday, September 4th, at the National University Commission in Abuja include NAAT, NASU, SSANIP, SSUCOEN, among others.

For the leadership of SSCUOEN, whose members have been agitating, the move by the federal government is timely.

Led by its immediate past president and President Emeritus, Danladi Ali Msheliza and President Akinniyi Akinleye, SSUCOEN said President Tinubu and the the education minister have demonstrated real commitment to education development with the Yayale Ahmed-led committee

Areas covered by the agreement include condition of service, training, appointments, funding and infrastructure development, and government bearing full capital and recurrent bills in demonstrations schools.

The agreements are subject to review every three years.
