The Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has called for increased private-sector investment and stronger partnerships to drive economic growth in the State.
The Governor said that the government cannot do it alone, stressing that economic transformation must not be limited to large-scale investments.
He also emphasised the importance of thousands of small and medium-sized enterprises operating across the State, describing them as an indispensable part of Zamfara’s economic landscape.
Governor Lawal stated this while addressing participants at the Zamfara State Business Partnership and Economic Development Summit 2026.
The one-day summit brought together government officials, business leaders, investors and other stakeholders to strengthen collaboration between the private sector and the State government.
Governor Dauda Lawal who listened to investors, business operators and other critical partners on their concerns and challenges affecting business partnerships and investment in Zamfara State, assured of necessary government interventions in key areas.
He told his audience that Zamfara State is endowed with considerable economic potentials that can support a stronger and more diversified economy.
Governor Lawal highlighted ongoing efforts by his administration to improve infrastructure and attract investors, including the development of a five-star hotel and an international airport, which he says are aimed at boosting connectivity and attracting local, national and international investment.
The Governor also pledged to empower more young people across the State, with a goal to unlock the entrepreneurial potential of Zamfara State youth, strengthen small and medium-sized businesses and ultimately revive the State’s economic fortunes.
Guest speaker, Professor Taofiq Aminu, explained that some of the issues confronting the business community and what needed to be done to create a more conducive environment for investment, and drive economic development.
