The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan, has directed all the administrative secretaries across the 36 states, including Abuja, to strengthen operational discipline and remove uncertainty ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
Prof. Amupitan made this public during a 2day Strategic Operational Workshop in Lagos where he described the officials as the “engine room” and urged them to build on the successes recorded in run- off elections
According to Amupitan, the introduction of an administrative secretary master Operational Tracker Template is the game changer before and during the 2027 General Elections that would provide real time updates on the readiness of state offices.
The tracker he further explained will be connected to the Election Monitoring and support centre ( EMSC), allowing INEC Headquarters to monitor election materials, logistics and staff training across the country.
This initiative he explained, will also help the Commission detect and resolve Operational challenges before they affect the conduct of Elections nation wide.
Participants at the retreat also focused their attention on voter registration and PVC distribution, Election logistics, IRev, IRev and CROMS, as well as the recruitment and training of ad-hoc staff and strict financial compliance.
