The Director General Of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration And control (NAFDAC) Professor Mojisola Adeyeye says some of the Products Referenced in the publication of 5th september 2026 by a news media on the outcry over fake and substandard Products, did not fall within the regulated items under the control of the agency.

While Professor Adeyeye recognized the legitimate concern of Nigerians regarding suspected adulterated, counterfeit, substandard and unsafe food products in circulation, she urged every one to get involved in the fight to chase out Merchants of death out of Business.

According to the NAFDAC D.G, the strength of the publication dated 5th Of September 2026 by Punch Newspaper and discuss on the social media could have been enhanced by a proper scientific evaluation rather than relying primarily on emotionally driven and perhaps commercially motivated narratives..

Professor Adeyeye said it was a collective responsibility of everyone to achieve a market free of fake and substandard regulated products.

Another disturbing observation is the unethical ripening of fruits, which NAFDAC has battled since 2018.

NAFDAC noted with great concern the unethical and illegal practices associated with the production, distribution, and sale of palm oil, fufu, and some staple food in Nigeria.
