The Bauchi State leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, under the Tanimu Turaki-led faction, has announced the collapse of its party structure, from the ward to the state levels, into the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision was announced by the PDP State Chairman, Pharmacist Samaila Burga, during a meeting of party leaders held at the Bauchi State Government House.
The meeting brought together PDP leaders from the ward, local government, and state levels to deliberate on the future of the party in Bauchi State amid the lingering crisis within the PDP at the national level.
Addressing the gathering, the PDP Chairman in Bauchi State, Pharmacist Samaila Burga, said that despite the court judgment involving Tanimu Turaki and Abdurrahman Mohammad, his leadership of the party in Bauchi State remains legitimate.
Burga said the members of his executive were elected through congresses conducted at the various levels and were duly recognised in accordance with the constitution of the party.
He said the party leaders, through a collective voice vote, endorsed the decision to collapse the PDP structure into the Allied Peoples Movement, APM.
Burga said Governor Bala Mohammed was a product of the PDP and had demonstrated what he described as purposeful and inclusive leadership in the governance of the state.
He said the development made it necessary for PDP leaders and supporters to join the APM and support its candidates in the 2027 general elections, with the aim of sustaining the developmental strides recorded in Bauchi State.
The PDP Chairman also charged the party leaders to mobilise support across the twenty local government areas of the state to ensure the success of APM candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
The development is expected to precede the formal reception of the defecting PDP leaders and members by Governor Bala Mohammed and the leadership of the Allied Peoples Movement in the coming days.
