The European Union Ambassador to Nigeria, Gautier Mignot, says the €100 million Boost Africa Investment Programme has helped create 50,000 jobs across Sub-Saharan Africa, including Nigeria, since its inception 10 years ago.
At a forum that brought together investment partners, Mignot said the programme has also generated an additional €400 million in investment, helping to expand job opportunities and support young entrepreneurs.
The project, under the EU’s Global Gateway strategy, brings together Team Europe and development banks, including the European Investment Bank, EIB, and the African Development Bank, AfDB, to build partnerships that support sustainable growth.
The European Investment Bank’s Country Relationship Manager for Nigeria, Moussa Koulima, said that with strong support from the EU and the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States, African entrepreneurs can gain greater access to capital.
Investment Director at the Cathay AfricInvest Innovation Fund, CAIF, Lavanya Anand, says the support is helping to strengthen investment opportunities for African businesses.
