The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction of one Solomon Moses, a fake spiritualist, for defrauding and sextorting an Indian woman.
Moses was convicted by Justice C.N. Nwabulu of the Federal High Court, Abuja after pleading guilty to impersonating a spiritual leader and obtaining $1,100 from the victim under the guise of providing spiritual healing.
Investigations revealed that Moses later deceived the victim into taking a nude spiritual bath, secretly recorded the session and threatened to release the video publicly unless she paid him money.
The court sentenced him to one year in prison, with an option of N300,000 fine, and ordered that the $1,100 proceeds of crime be forfeited to the victim through the EFCC
The EFCC warned the public against online fraudsters who exploit victims through deception, impersonation and blackmail.
