Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has commended the federal government for conducting Nigeria’s crisis response capacity exercise 2026 in the state.

Governor Oborevwori who gave the commendation during the opening ceremony, described the development as significant, because Delta state is the first sub-national jurisdiction to host the exercise, outside the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The exercise, codenamed “Rapid Response 3”, is aimed at testing Nigeria’s response plans to crisis, her operational capabilities as well as examine how participating security agencies can effectively handle emergency situations.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Kingsley Emu, said the exercise was consistent with the administration’s commitment to strengthening peace, security and effective Governance under its MORE Agenda.

The Director, Presidential Command and Control Center, ONSA, Rear Admiral Adedotun Olukayode noted that the changing nature of terrorism and violent extremism particularly in the Sahel, made it imperative for Nigeria to continuously review it’s security plans and prepare for emerging threats.

The 5-day Rapid Response 3 exercise was conducted in two major scenarios, with stimulated activities and not actual security incidents.
