Women from across Gombe State have converged on the state capital for a unity summit aimed at harnessing their numerical strength and influence ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The summit brings together women from the eleven Local Government Areas and thirteen local Council Development Areas, with participants calling for greater political inclusion, mentorship, and opportunities for women to take leadership roles.

Under the theme, “Stronger Voices, United Women, Greater Impact,” the gathering brings together market women, professionals, community leaders, and grassroots mobilisers.

Beyond voting, the women say they want a stronger voice in shaping policies, making decisions, and occupying elective and appointive positions.

“What Nigerian women need is support, mentorship, and the opportunity to take their rightful place in the political landscape.”

For the participants, their strength lies not only in numbers but in their ability to organise at the grassroots and translate that strength into meaningful political participation.

They say the platform provides an opportunity to build networks, encourage women to aspire for leadership, and prepare for the challenges of the 2027 elections.

“We appreciate the conveners for bringing women together. We are united, and we are ready to support one another and participate actively in 2027.”

The women say the summit is more than a gathering; it is a call to action — to move from being largely voters to becoming active participants in political decision-making and leadership.
