Imo State government is seeking a partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, on its “One Kindred, One Business Initiative, a community-based cooperative model targeting the creation of 500,000 jobs.
Governor Hope Uzodimma made the request when UN Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed led a delegation on a courtesy visit to him at the Government House in Owerri, the state capital.
Mohammed says the Imo State Government is making significant strides in digital transformation, youth empowerment, economic diversification and public-sector reforms
The UN senior official commended Imo State givernment’s investments in education, digital skills, power infrastructure and administrative reforms, saying they are fostering enterprise, job creation and resilient communities.
Governor Uzodimma maintains that his administration is deliberately deploying technology to tackle unemployment, strengthen security and reduce reliance on public-sector jobs.
